Stonewood Mall Suffers Smash and Grab

Downey Police are investigating a smash and grab robbery that took place on Wednesday, July 12th around 4:30 p.m. inside of Stonewood Mall. A video of the robbery which made the rounds on social media shows at least three males, all wearing black hoodies, breaking the Daniel’s Jewelry Store’s glass cases and removing various items.

There have been multiple break-ins at the mall recently, according to the individual who recorded the video and is an employee at one of the mall’s stores. The employee also stated that there is only one security guard on duty.

According to the post on social media, police did not arrive at the mall until more than 20 minutes after the crime had been committed.

Downey police have very little information about the burglary and could only confirm that it is under investigation. Anyone with information about the suspects in the smash-and-grab burglary are urged to contact the Downey Police Department.
